Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-03
This Privacy Policy explains how WikiRNG ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services. By using WikiRNG, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in with Discord or an email link, we receive your Discord user ID or email address. We store only a one-way hash of it, never the ID or address itself, except as described under Discord Activity below.
- Username. Shown publicly with your profile and game activity.
- Account transfer requests. If you ask to move another of your accounts into yours, we keep the request, including the reason you give and what the other account had, so we can review it and keep a record.
Information collected automatically
- Game activity. When you're signed in, we keep what you do in the game, such as your rolls, results, and friends, and when it happened. If you play without signing in, your results stay in your browser.
- Technical information. Your IP address is used for security and anonymous statistics, and is stored only as a one-way hash, for a short time.
- Usage data. We collect anonymous, aggregated analytics about how the site is used, such as pages visited, general device and browser information, and daily counts of things like rolls and shares. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for this, which does not use cookies. This data does not identify you.
How we use your information
- To provide and run WikiRNG, including signing you in and saving your rolls.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. WikiRNG shows no ads by default. Ads are completely optional and only appear if you choose to turn them on (see Ads).
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and similar browser storage for things the site needs to work, like keeping you signed in and remembering your settings. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The only exception is if you choose to turn on ads, which are off by default (see Ads).
How we share information
We share information only:
- With service providers that help us run WikiRNG, such as hosting, network, security, sign-in, and email delivery providers, and only as needed to provide their services.
- With Google, only if you choose to turn on ads (see Ads).
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of WikiRNG and its users.
If you sign in with Discord, Discord's own privacy policy also applies to your use of Discord.
Cloudflare Turnstile
We may use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect parts of WikiRNG, such as sign-in, from bots and abuse. To tell people from bots, Turnstile collects information from your browser and device, such as your IP address and browser details, and sends it to Cloudflare. Cloudflare's handling of this information is described in the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Ads
Ads are completely optional and off by default. You never have to turn them on, and nothing about WikiRNG changes if you don't. They exist only as a way to support the site if you want to.
Unless you turn ads on yourself in Settings, no ads are shown, no ad scripts are loaded, and nothing is sent to any advertising company. Players without an account never see ads.
If you choose to turn them on, pages you visit while signed in show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and collect information from your browser and device, such as your IP address and the pages you visit, to show ads and measure them. They may show ads based on your visits to WikiRNG and other sites. Google's use of this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's My Ad Center. We don't share your account information with Google.
Depending on where you live, Google may first ask for your consent, or offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" choice. If you are asked for consent, you can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page.
You can turn ads off in Settings at any time.
Data retention
We keep account information, including transfer requests, for as long as your account exists. Information used for security is deleted shortly after it is no longer needed. If an email we send you bounces or is reported as spam, we keep a one-way hash of the address so we don't email it again. When you delete your account, we delete your account information. Rolls may be kept in an anonymous form that is no longer linked to you.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including storing sign-in identifiers and IP addresses only as one-way hashes (or, for the Discord Activity, encrypted). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
You can use WikiRNG without an account. If you have one, you can delete your account at any time on the Account page. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to access, correct, or delete your information, or to object to how it is used. To make a request, contact us below.
Children's privacy
WikiRNG is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Discord Activity
This section only applies if you play WikiRNG inside Discord, as a Discord Activity. If you only use the website, none of it applies to you.
When you open the Activity, you are signed in with your Discord account, and a WikiRNG account is created if you don't have one. All rolls done through the Discord Activity are created on the website and is linked to the account, meaning you will appear in global leaderboards and all your data is processed the same as if you were accessing the website.
While you use it, we also collect:
- Your Discord details. Your Discord user ID, display name, and avatar, so the Activity can show them next to your results and mention you in your group's daily reminders.
- Where you played. The Discord channel and server you played in, so the Activity can show your group's results and post its messages there.
- Your group's activity. The days your group played, its streaks, and best results.
Your Discord name, avatar, and results are shown to the people who play in the same channel, in the Activity and in the messages WikiRNG posts there. They are never shown on the website. We store your Discord ID and the channel in encrypted form.
We delete this information 30 days after you last play in that channel. Deleting your WikiRNG account deletes it straight away. Discord's privacy policy also applies to your use of Discord.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. Continuing to use WikiRNG after a change means you accept the updated policy.
